If These Trees Could Talk

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Here is the cover of “Above the Earth, Below the Sky” Vinyl Edition, by If These Trees Could Talk. The Vinyl edition is coming out on the long time friend label The Mylene Sheath. The layout is composed of several analog photos that I shot with my Holga. The goal of the photos, and the composition, is to illustrate the ominous landscape setting that is produced by this epic band. As always, the Sheath is dedicated to packaging, and the record will be pressed up on Super High Quality Gloss Stock, and will have a Spot Matte Varnish. And of course, on colored vinyl.

The Dirty Birds

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Here is the cover for The Dirty Birds‘ new album “How the Cause Became the Cure.” It’s going to be packaged up in a 4 Panel Digipak, with a slot inside to hold a 12 page booklet. That’s quite a bit of room to stretch some serious imagery across. Our goal was too illustrate the four seasons, (one to each panel) and have them merging together seamlessly. Then the booklet is full of lyrics, and illustrations and watercolor. Be sure and check it out when it comes out on August 8th.

Black Bear River

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Adam, Cheryl and I just completed the CD layout for David Mcghee‘s “Black Bear River.” The artwork is a vintage splashy watercolor illustration of the rural backwoods that are often responsible for inspiring really good folk music. This is no stretch for this record. We wanted to illustrate the album title’s River, and give the feel of seclusion in the woods. Additionally, David was a treat to work with. It’s great when everyone is really patient with each other. Getting along well, makes this process always function very smoothly.

From Fathoms

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Here is the cover we created for the new Gifts From Enola album, “From Fathoms”. This record has been in the works for months. Every aspect of this came together as well as we could have asked for. The concept of the album is based around a poem that the band wrote, about waking yourself up, to pull yourself out of the darkest depths, and to come back above the surface. The band and label (Mylene Sheath) were wonderful to work with. The album will be released both as CD and Double 12″ Vinyl in a gatefold sleeve with special colored vinyl. In addition, they will both be a Stock Gloss, finished off with a Spot Strikethrough Matte.
